Several years ago, I was preparing a sermon regarding God’s call to the individual” In the course of that study and preparation. I became acutely aware of all the man made noise around us. Not just the noise of the car that needs a muffler, the house being constructed down the street, the airplane flying overhead. But Noise that penetrates our consciousness and even our soul. The phone calls the music, the speakers, television, clubs, reels videos and on and on. Today is not to examine that noise other than acknowledge that it is there and the scope and volume of it, the way that it penetrates into every nook and cranny of our life.
That noise is still there more entrenched than ever before and in new an innovative ways. We innocently call it social platforms, social media and many times we pay good money, to engage with it not realizing or maybe just ignoring that it will dominate us and change us
Not realizing that it is accompanied by the seductive HISSSSS first heard by Eve in the garden! The hiss that has accompanied mankind to this day and will continue to do so until the return of our Lord and Savior.
Mankind’s public awareness of this danger is slow to surface and is fiercely resisted by a portion of our population who are sadly misunderstanding and misguided frankly ignorant.
Victims are rampant. Most notably our families, our young, our education system, and even high profile leaders. I groan with dismay when I see my Christian brothers and sisters who have joined in with the course of the HISS And have become willing proponents of this paradigm and HISS that came out of the garden. Trying to disguise it with high sounding names and titles.
Jesus said, “For the hearts of this people have grown dull. Their ears are hard of hearing, and their eyes they have closed, lest they should see with their eyes and hear with their ears, lest they should
understand with their hearts and turn, so that I should heal them. But blessed are your eyes for they see, and your ears for they hear.” (Matt.13:15-16)
“Who hath ears to hear” (Matt. 13:9),
“Take heed what you hear!” (Mark 4:24),
“Take heed how you hear!” (Luke 8:18)
