God demonstrated that he knows what he’s doing because he placed me in Southside Baptist Church. At SBS, Prayer was not an adjunct to the work of the church…….It was at the core of all ministries and work. Everything was bathed in prayer. Pastor,Staff, Sunday, school, teachers, deacons, and other Lay leaders were prayer warriors. and God dropped me right in the middle of them continuing the work of salvation in my life begun by my wife and a carpenter that worked for me!
You don’t have to look too closely at my Christian walk to see the evolution of my prayer life. Even before I was born again I had a role model in my wife who prayed faithfully. She was the one that brought prayer into our family life while I was an ignorant pagan.
Tozer used the word intensity. I kind of like the word passionate. The passion of prayer…….scripture supports the use of the word passion in my view of prayer
For whatever reason, I have always felt
The freedom and the need for transparency in my prayers with my Lord. There is no need for me to share with you the details and the intimacy of the conversation between me and my Lord just know that I have experienced the trust, joy, satisfaction, victory of my prayers, as well as sorrow, the tears, the waiting and the denial found in my prayers. Measured by the clock I pray more today than ever. I believe I can honestly say that I have more comfort and trust in a conversations with my Lord.
I knew that my prayer paradigm was evolving and I had that Eureka on the day we were loading the bus I was driving with teens going to Ichetucknee Springs. One the adult chaperones said “ before Bob starts the bus let’s have a word of prayer.” And I was not offended.😎
I’m not sure that I can be classified as a prayer warrior based upon the model of those that I know who have gone before me, but I would like to be. I certainly have the time and I believe the heart.
So how about you, my friend, where are you in your prayer life? Is it evolving?. Have you experienced your Eureka moment brought about by the evolution of your prayer conversations with the LORD?
Grace and Blessings…
Bob
